Yes, Sex to 9 is 10 years old!
It feels like it was yesterday when I was given the Friday slot on RRN in those days, what would later become TotalRock, and yet so much has happened.
I’m sure that many would not have given a dime for a show with a silly name, presented by a foreigner, not to mention that I was playing all these obscure bands that no one knew in the UK. The truth be told, there were some people in the early days that were not exactly supportive, but, oh well! where are they now? I’m still on air, in fact the longest running show on TotalRock… who would have said? So allow me to pride myself on this little achievement.
I’ve always tried to do things with passion and honesty, never step on other people’s toes, do my own thing and be genuine. I firmly believe that otherwise, it’s not worth doing it.
Far from bitter, I feel blessed and incredibly grateful to many, many, many people.
Of course to my TotalRock family (at least the ones that believed in me), to the labels (the ones that cared and realized it was all about promoting music and not a groupies competition).
To all the bands: thank you for the music, for the interviews, for supporting the show. You’ve got all my respect.
To the listeners: you guys have made the show what it is, plus you invented the concept of "sextoniner", way more than just listeners! I’m forever grateful.
Of course we wouldn’t be on air without Yods. My beautiful husband Micah is the backbone of Sex to 9. Without his faith and support nothing would have been possible. This show is as much his as mine.
Here’s to many more years of great music
See you on the airwaves!
Next Friday (24th of April) we’ll be talking to Epica’s drummer Arien Van Weesenbeeck about the upcoming live double CD album "The Classical Conspiracy" and the new studio album, due out later this year.
Apologies to all those who tuned in last Friday the 10th, I had left the show pre recorded before going away but unfortunately there was a mixtake uploading the show on TotalRock’s end and it didn’t go out. I am truly sorry.
You’ll have the chance to hear the interview with Mark Hunter this coming Friday the 17th.
Next Friday 10th of April we’ll be airing the interview with Chimaira’s frontman Mark Hunter.
Then, on Friday 24th of April we’ll be talking to Epica’s drummer Arien Van Weesenbeek about the upcoming live double CD album "The Classical Conspiracy" and the new studio album, due out later this year.
On Friday 3 April you can hear the interview with Cynic’s frontman Paul Masvidal that we recorded when the band visited Spain. Sorry it has taken so long, but it’s definitely worth it!
On Friday 10 April you’ll be able to hear an interview with Chimaira’s frontman Mark Hunter. We’ll be talking about the new album "The Infection", out April 24, and playing some tracks from it.
We caught up with God Forbid on their recent visit to Spain.
Don’t miss the interview with guitarist Doc Coyle on Friday 27th March.
I’m happy to tell you that our My Space page is up and running www.myspace.com/sexto9
It was long overdue, I know, but better late than never 😉
There will be a show today, even though Totalrock is offline for the move. The show will still be broadcast as usual via the "Sex to 9" stream.
Hope you all can tune in and enjoy!
